Gallery Talk: Dualities |The solo exhibition of Anne Sassoon examines duality, duplication, division and controversy. Her early and late paintings and drawings reveal an attitude that always makes room for the Other and for different perspectives: there is no absolute truth, but different possibilities for interpretation and the examination of reality. Gallery Talk Friday November 22, 10:00 at Hechel Shlomo King George St. 58. Exhibition Opening: Drawing Biennale | The Seventh Biennale of Drawing in Israel, held under the auspices of and produced by the Jerusalem Artists’ House, has established its status as a unique and comprehensive artistic enterprise since 2001. Traces VII – Action Line, the Seventh Biennale of Drawing, draws away from the conventional perception of drawing as a linear action unfolding on a two-dimensional support – usually paper. Instead, the exhibition seeks to manifest the power of drawing in a three-dimensional sphere, and to present specific aspects in the fields of sculpture, installation, performance and sound, which are nourished by a deep understanding of drawing while existing in three-dimensional space. Exhibition Opening Saturday November 23rd, 18:30 at The Jerusalem Artists House, HaNaggid St. 12. Exhibition Opening: Dynamo | The exhibition “Dynamo” brings new works together originating in various modes of sculpture. All of them are based on an initial act of drawing followed by a response. The show focuses on the emergence of drawing in sculpture alongside volume, material, and form. The function of drawing in it is neither decorative nor superfluous; it constitutes the work, although it is not necessarily present at its starting point. Part of the Seventh Biennale of Drawing in Israel. Exhibition Opening Saturday November 23rd, 19:30 at Barbur Gallery, Shirizli St. 6. For more info, click here.
